Appalachian Service Project

We are sending a work team down to southerstern Kentucky or northeastern Tennessee (depending upon where we utlimately get assigned) for a week-long mission trip as part of the Appalchian Service Project. The main work of this ministry to home repair for people living in the Central Appalacian area. We are asking for volunteers to be a part of the team as well as people to pray for them.
Who may participate? Adults and youth (must be 13 and completed 8th grade).
What skills are needed in order to participate? The most important requirement is having a desire to serve! There are always lots of things for “regular” people to do. Every project is overseen by a knowledgable and skilled staff person who will align work teams to the project that suites their skills the best. With that said, it’s always helpful to have members of the workteam who have experience with plumbing, electricity, roofing, and general contracting. But those skills are not a requirement!
COST: There is no out-of-pocket cost for members of the work team. During there trip, there will likely be personal incidental costs, such as store-bought snacks or beverages. Both travel expenses and the participation fee from ASP will be covered by our church budget.
Currently, we have 9 persons signed up (some of them pending) for our 2023 summer ASP mission team. As soon as our list is firmed up, we will pass along those names so you can pray for them.
Dates of the trip:
- Leave Port Huron: Sunday, July 9 (early morning)
- Return to Port Huron: Saturday, July 15 (evening)
If you would like to volunteer, please contact the church.
